Zack Snyder Reveals Affleck's Batman Look, New Batmobile

After teasing it was almost time to take the cover off the all new Batmobile Zack Snyder has delivered. Today Zack revealed a high resolution photo of not only the new Batmobile but a first look at the new costume that Ben Affleck will sport in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman movie! In his tweet, Snyder clarified he took the photo with his own still camera ("I shot this with my @Leica_Camera M Monochrom"), rather than being a traditional publicity image. A zoomed-in detail shot appears to confirm that's indeed Affleck inside the Batsuit, and not a stand-in.

Though a color image will tell the full story, the costume -- especially the short ears and wide Bat-symbol on the chest -- resembles the Batsuit from Frank Miller's classic 1986 DC Comics story "The Dark Knight Returns," which in its fourth issue featured a climactic battle between Batman and Superman. Snyder's new film and "The Dark Knight Returns" have been linked since the start -- when the "Man of Steel" sequel was first announced to feature Batman at last year's Comic-Con in San Diego, actor Henry Lennox read a quotation from the story. Snyder said at the time, "We're not adapting this thing, but it will help us tell you something."

The still-untitled "Man of Steel" sequel -- commonly referred to as "Batman vs. Superman" -- is set for release on May 6, 2016, and, along with Affleck, will star Henry Cavill (reprising his role as Superman from 2013's "Man of Steel"), Gal Gadot (the first big-screen live-action Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Jeremy Irons (Alfred), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg/Victor Stone).
